Privacy Policy

Overview
WAPlus ("the Extension") is a free Chrome extension that enhances WhatsApp Web with additional features including message templates, broadcast campaigns, auto-replies, webhook integrations, data export, and privacy controls. This Privacy Policy describes how the Extension handles your data.
Key principle: WAPlus processes all data locally in your browser. Your messages, contacts, and settings never leave your device.
Data Accessed by the Extension
WAPlus accesses the following data to provide its functionality:
- WhatsApp Web interface data: The Extension reads and interacts with WhatsApp Web's own displayed data (chat lists, contact names, message content, group information) to provide features like templates, broadcasting, and auto-replies. This data is accessed through WhatsApp Web's internal APIs and is not transmitted to any external server.
- Contact and group information: Names, phone numbers, and group memberships visible within WhatsApp Web are used to power recipient selection for campaigns, export features, and auto-reply targeting.
- Message content: Messages in the active conversation are accessed to provide features like message translation, deleted message restoration, and quick replies.
Data Storage
All user data is stored locally in your browser using:
- chrome.storage.local: Settings, templates, auto-reply rules, webhook configurations, campaign data, and preferences are stored using Chrome's local storage API. This data is stored on your device and is not synchronized to any cloud service.
- IndexedDB: File attachments for message templates (images, documents, media) are stored in the browser's IndexedDB database as binary blobs.
All stored data is namespaced per WhatsApp phone number, meaning data from different WhatsApp accounts is kept separate.
Data Transmission
WAPlus has the following network interactions:
- No message data is transmitted externally. Your WhatsApp messages, contacts, and conversation content are never sent to any server.
- Outbound webhooks: If you configure outbound webhooks, event data from matched auto-reply triggers or broadcast reactions is relayed through WAPlus's servers to your configured endpoint URL. Your endpoint URL is never called directly from the browser. The relayed data includes only what you explicitly configure in the webhook payload.
- Inbound webhooks: If you create an inbound webhook, a unique URL is generated on WAPlus's servers. External systems can POST to this URL to trigger message sends through your WhatsApp account. The Extension polls for pending webhook events.
- Message translation: The translation feature sends message text to Google's public translation endpoint (translate.googleapis.com) for language translation. This is an unofficial, public API and does not involve WAPlus servers.
Permissions Required
The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:
- tabs: Required to detect when WhatsApp Web (web.whatsapp.com) is open so the Extension can activate.
- storage: Required to save your settings, templates, auto-reply rules, and other configuration data locally in your browser.
- Host permission for web.whatsapp.com: Required to inject the Extension's interface into WhatsApp Web and interact with WhatsApp's internal APIs for sending messages and reading chat data.
Third-Party Services
WAPlus uses the following third-party services:
- Google Translate (unofficial): Used only when you explicitly request message translation. Message text is sent to Google's public translation endpoint.
WAPlus does not integrate with any analytics services, advertising networks, or user tracking systems.
No Account Required
WAPlus does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign up for any service. The Extension works immediately after installation with no registration process.
Advertising
WAPlus does not display any advertisements, sponsored content, or promotional material within the Extension. The Extension is completely free with no monetization through advertising.
Children's Privacy
WAPlus is not directed at children under the age of 13. The Extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
